FarGen was launched by the Genetic Biobank of the Faroe Islands, which is a coordinating unit within the Faroese public health services. The Director of the Genetic Biobank, Guðrið Andorsdóttir, is in charge of the project and as acting project director works with MD Bjarni á Steig, Consultant, who is the clinician responsible for the project, and the scientific leader Professor Pál Weihe, Consultant.               

In addition, a steering group has been appointed to guide and monitor the project.

FarGen currently has four members of staff.
